This beautiful silver galleon brooch is a replica of an original object in the museum designed by Dunstan Pruden, a member of the Guild of St Joseph & Dominic, and comes in a presentation box.

The brooch is made by Pruden and Smith (Anton Pruden is the grandson of Dunstan), located here in Ditchling in the building which used to house the Ditchling Press.

The galleon motif was originally designed for a church warden’s staff and further castings were made into brooches. The museum’s original was given to Celie KilBride, wife of Valentine KilBride, the renowned weaver.
