FONT explores the relationship between calligraphy, type and the new digital technology through the work of one of the world’s greatest typeographers: Sumner Stone.

This book was designed to accompany an exhibition called FONT: Sumner Stone, Calligraphy and Type Design in a Digital Age shown at Ditchling Museum in 2000 and which provided a rare insight into the creative process and focussed on how the shape of our entire visual environmnent was changing at the beginning of the new century.

It was also part of a bigger project called Lettering Today and Tomorrow, a collaboration between Ditchling Museum and The Edward Johnston Foundation which took part over three years from 1999 – 2001.
