Join us for a free event marking the launch of The Women Weavers of Ditchling: Making the Ancient Modern, a new audio play by Natasha Sutton Williams.

Inspired by the life and work of Hilary Bourne, Barbara Allen and Amy Sawyer, The Women Weavers of Ditchling imagines a conversation between the three craftswomen, each of whom played a significant role in the formation of Ditchling as a creative hub in the early 20th century.

Guests will first enjoy a glass of wine and exclusive after-hours access to the museum, followed by the premiere of The Women Weavers of Ditchling. The playwright, Natasha Sutton Williams, and actors will then take part in a roundtable discussion, followed by a short talk by Jane Traies examining a handful of surviving letters by Barbara Allen, Hilary Bourne and the BBC producer and early music expert Madeau Stewart.

A selection of objects by Amy Sawyer and Bourne & Allen will be on display.

This special event is part of Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft’s ACE funded project Different Stories, in association with Disability Arts Online. Find out more about the project on our blog.
