Acclaimed photojournalist and portrait photographer Yasmine Akim is here to tell you her top tips for photography and give you the chance to act up and star in your own photoshoot in our interactive Brangwyn studio, with or without a selection of costumes.
Come and get guidance on how to set up the perfect natural or posed portrait with your phone or camera, or get together with friends and family and have your photo taken professionally by Yasmine! Prints will be available for purchase digitally or in print.
Photographer Yasmine Akim is a part-time lecturer mainly at UAL, focusing on photography, social justice & black feminism, through their ‘Teaching Within’ programme via Shades of Noir. Her work has been exhibited at Autograph ABP as a part of ‘The Missing Chapter Collective’ and in publications including the Independent, Afropunk, and The Face.
Yasmine considers her portraits and social photography as collaborations acting as a means of revealing internalized exterior perceptions, finding power through intimacy. Yasmine primarily shoots in black and white.
