Lost for Words
Free online workshops
Mon 19 October - Wed 21 October
‘Language is a complex idea that allows us to communicate and understand. In my experience, all I know is not always what I have words to express.’ John Newling
John Newling explores the limitations and possibilities of language in his latest exhibition tillage, currently on show at Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft.
We welcome young people (aged 13 – 21) to take part in a series of free online workshops, with writer and arts educator Marina Castledine, to develop their own creative responses to his work. Using found materials and objects, you will develop your own visual alphabet and consider alternative ways of communicating than through words alone.
The workshops will take place on Monday 19, Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21 October from 3 – 4.30pm (GMT) via Skype and will be limited to 8 places.
Whilst we encourage you to see the exhibition in person, we appreciate this is not possible for everyone and therefore it is not a requirement of attending the workshops.
To register your interest please email firstname.lastname@example.org stating your name, age, and confirmation that you can attend all three sessions. Places are issued on a first come first served basis and there will be a waiting list in place.
