About the Workshop
During this fast-paced, half-day workshop participants will get hands-on and inky with the age-old craft of letterpress.
What better place to learn this exciting skill than in the village of Ditchling – a place with a rich history of typographical design and letterpress printing, from the work of the Guild of St Joseph and St. Dominic to the present day.
The jam-packed workshop will cover all the basic information about how to set up a printing press, how to handle type, different inking techniques, the fundamentals of design and composition with wood type, and of course, how to pull a print.
Participants will have exclusive access to Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft’s collection of antique wood type and pull unique designs on a vintage Farley proofing press.
During the workshop you will have create your very own custom letterpress poster to take home at the end of the day.
