Day 1: Dynamic Draping and Illustration
Calling all budding illustrators and designers. This workshop will teach new techniques and skills to illustrate fabric and fashion from collage and your own designs.
We will start the day with a beautiful selection of high-end designer fabrics and miniature scale mannequins. We will learn draping and pinning techniques to create different effects and design details, such as bias draping, pleating, different necklines and fabric combinations. This will be a great fun creative activity to set off for the whole day. You can create as many different designs are you want to!
In the afternoon we will get inspired with examples of fashion illustration and how to capture the essence of your designs. You will get to experiment with lots of different mediums including collage, fine line, ink, pro marker, pencil, crayon, and oil pastel. You will leave with plenty of fabulous illustrations to take home!
Day 2: Patchwork Accessory
Learn how to use a sewing machine to create your very own patchwork accessory!
We will begin this workshop by choosing from a huge selection of fabric squares of all sorts of prints and colours to create a unique patchwork design. We will teach you how to use a sewing machine to sew your individual pieces into a big piece of fabric to work with.
You will then use this to create either a small bag, purse, eye mask or bandana. This is perfect for all levels whether you’ve used a sewing machine before or not.
Day 3: Customisation Station: Revamp your Clothes
In the spirit of Dame Vera, this workshop is all about using what you already have to create something that’s new and exciting to you!
We will start by designing from the garments we have brought, brainstorming ideas of how to transform your basic tee into a totally unique to you piece, blue jeans into custom patches galore!
We will then use the customisation station to implement our ideas, think glitter, gluing, embroidery, beads, patches, buttons and so much more to make your clothes totally unique! This is a great workshop for all sewing abilities as you don’t even need to sew.
