Join us for a special pop-up exhibition in our Clore Learning Space, celebrating the work of recent and former graduates of Jenny Dean and Jacqui Symons’ renowned six-month natural dyeing course.

Ditchling has a rich heritage of natural dyeing. The South Downs National Park, one of Europe’s most biodiverse regions, provides the perfect backdrop for this tradition. Pioneers such as Ethel Mairet, Valentine KilBride, Hilary Bourne, and Barbara Allen played pivotal roles in reviving natural dyeing in the 20th century, a legacy that DMAC proudly continues to this day.

The exhibition will showcase the works of talented artists, including Laura Andrews, Andrea Benson, Cath Bristow, Ruthe Cava, Amanda Duke, Amelia Errazuriz, Kate Goodridge, Claire Housden, and Helen Milen.

Curated by Jacqui Symons, Jenny Dean, Emma O’Neill, and the artists themselves, this exhibition offers a unique opportunity to engage with the artistry and skill of natural dyeing. Graduates of the course will be on hand throughout the show, and they will be happy to discuss the techniques and inspirations behind the works on display.
