Join us for a special five day pop-up exhibition in our Clore Learning Space, celebrating the work of the graduates and tutors of Jenny Dean and Jacqui Symons’ six-month natural dyeing course at Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft.

Ditchling has a rich heritage of natural dyeing. The South Downs National Park, one of Europe’s most biodiverse regions, provides the perfect backdrop for this tradition. Pioneers such as Ethel Mairet, Valentine KilBride, Hilary Bourne, and Barbara Allen played pivotal roles in reviving natural dyeing in the 20th century, a legacy that DMAC proudly continues to this day.

The exhibition will showcase the works of talented artists, including Candy Arbuckle, Miesje Chafer, Jenny Dean, Jo Glenn, Michelle Griffiths, Lizzie Jones,  Juliet Penny, Claire Platt, Michelle Redman, Jacqui Symons and Molly Williams Prentice.

Curated by Jacqui Symons, Jenny Dean, Emma O’Neill, and the artists themselves, this exhibition offers a unique opportunity to engage with the artistry and skill of natural dyeing. Graduates of the course will be on hand throughout the show, and they will be happy to discuss the techniques and inspirations behind the works on display.
