Ditch Black Friday for DMAC

It’s officially Christmas shopping season!

If you’ve not started crossing names off your list then now’s the time to get cracking. This weekend you can find a selection of very special items from our award-winning shop at the longstanding designer maker fair MADE Brighton, which returns to Brighton Dome Corn Exchange following its major restoration.

MADE Brighton will showcase 53 highly skilled artisans who represent some of the best in their craft. Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft will present an exclusive selection of products as part of the event, including new Christmas cards featuring woodblock printed designs from our collection by Philip Hagreen (1890 – 1988).

MADE Brighton takes place 24 – 26 November at Brighton Dome, Corn Exchange, Church Street, Brighton BN1 1EU. Open Friday + Saturday 10:30 to 5:30 and Sunday 10:30 – 5. Tickets are available in advance online at £7 and for £8 on the door.

Museum Shop Sunday

If you’re visiting the museum this Sunday 26 November you can take advantage of our very lovely Museum Shop Sunday offer, which grants two free museum entry tickets with any purchase over £30. So why not get your Christmas shopping sorted and then treat yourself to a leisurely afternoon exploring our exhibition, Double Weave: Bourne and Allen’s Modernist Textiles?

Leaf excercise bookIf you’re not local, you can still celebrate Museum Shop Sunday with us, as a free Ditchling Leaf Exercise Book will be shipped with every online purchase placed on Sunday 26 November over £30*.

Museum Shop Sunday is an international campaign to highlight the vital role of retail in helping arts, cultural and heritage venues to survive and thrive. Instigated by the Association of Cultural Enterprises, the event falls between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and helps provide a boost to heritage venues who find themselves competing with major players such as Amazon in the lead up to Christmas.

And the best bit?

Year round, all profit from our shop goes straight back into the work we do here at the museum. Be it supporting our exhibitions, funding education programmes or helping to protect our valuable collection, every penny supports our charitable work. What’s more, the museum’s shop features pieces from countless local artists and craftspeople, so every purchase supports a local creative business too.
