DMAC takes part in virtual Museum Shop Sunday
Discover local treasures and enjoy a free gift
On Sunday 29 November 2020, for the fourth consecutive year, more than 1400 museum shops across 22 countries will offer inspired shopping at museums and cultural institutions during Museum Shop Sunday. The event celebrates the unique and exciting shops which play such a vital role in helping arts, cultural and heritage attractions to survive and thrive.
Instigated four years ago by the Association of Cultural Enterprises, Museum Shop Sunday falls between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and helps provide a boost to heritage venues who find themselves competing with major players such as Amazon in the lead up to Christmas.
Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft is one of many Sussex cultural venues that has been badly hit by closures and reduced visitor numbers this year, and it needs more support now than ever before to help protect its important collection. Museum Shop Sunday gives everyone the opportunity to support our region’s heritage and local artists, all whilst finding unique gifts for your loved ones this Christmas.
Year round, all purchases made in Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft’s shop support the preservation and protection of the museum’s renowned, Accredited collection. What’s more, the shop features pieces from countless local artists and craftspeople, so every purchase supports a local creative business during this hugely challenging time.
Due to the current lockdown restrictions, Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft’s Museum Shop Sunday event will take place exclusively online this year. All customers who spend over £30 on the day will receive a free Ditchling Hound Exercise Book.*
‘Museum shops are a treasure trove of lovely and unusual gifts, cards and treats, but they also have a key role in supporting the work of the museum as a charity. Many of the things we sell are made by local artists and craftspeople, so support their creative businesses too. Buy something unique and support culture at the same time – what’s not to like!’ – Steph Fuller, Director
Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft’s shop features an expertly curated mix of homewares, books and stationary inspired by the museum’s collection, including limited edition prints, exclusive collaborations and one-off designs by local craftspeople.
*A Ditchling Hound Exercise book will be automatically added to all baskets that qualify placed between 00:01 – 23:59 on Sunday 29 November.
