World War 1 Poetry with Agenda Magazine – Sat 1 December

Saturday 1 December

Join us for an evening of World War 1 themed poetry with Agenda magazine.

The evening accompanies the museum’s Changing Lives: Ditchling Artists in WW1 display and will include readings from the latest Agenda commemorative 1918 double issue (Vol 52, Nos 1-2), celebrating the end of The Great War and its aftermath with works by nationally and internationally-known poets and translators.

Agenda is a very highly regarded international literary journal founded in 1959 by William Cookson and Ezra Pound. Patricia McCarthy has edited it since January 2003 when William Cookson died.

The logo for Agenda poetry journal was specially created by Ditchling artist David Jones. Two essays devoted to Jones are included in this latest issue by Hilary Davies and Paul Robichaud. The back cover (pictured here) is an ink on paper drawing by David Jones of soldiers playing dice beneath the Cross, courtesy of the David Jones Society.
