Vanessa Marr: Women & Domesticity – What’s Your Perspective? Friday 27 September
Friday 27 September
£6 inc. entrance to the museum
Join artist and educator Vanessa Marr to find out more about her open-call arts project ‘Women and Domesticity – What’s your Perspective?’ which invites women to express their views on this subject by stitching statements and expressions upon a duster, transforming them from a cloth kept under the sink into a powerful collection of voices.
Vanessa is Senior Lecturer at the University of Brighton. Her academic work takes a critical view of the language of common-place objects and popular narratives, which she explores primarily through embroidery and creative writing. Her work is underpinned by visual design-theory and process yet embraces an intuitive and physical approach that facilitates self-authorship and her continuing exploration of ‘women’s work’. She has been running the Women & Domesticity project since 2014.
Cancellations must be received at least 7 working days prior to the event for a refund to be given. Cancellations after this period will not be refunded unless another person is able to take your place.
If the talk is cancelled we issue a full refund to the people already booked on.
