Silver Galleon Brooch

This beautiful silver galleon brooch is a replica of an original object in the museum designed by Dunstan Pruden, a member of the Guild of St Joseph & Dominic, and comes in a presentation box.

The brooch is made by Dunstan & Pruden (Anton Pruden is the grandson of Dunstan), located here in Ditchling in the building which used to house the Ditchling Press.

The galleon motif was originally designed for a church warden’s staff and further castings were made into brooches. The museum’s original  was given to Celie Kilbride, wife of Valentine Kilbride.
