The Big Steam Print Exhibition
6 August 2016 - 21 August 2016Price: Free
For those of you new to our events, the exhibition is the final stage of The Big Steam Print, an exciting community art project organized by the museum which saw participants produce their biggest ever prints using a 12.5-tonne vintage steamroller as a giant printing press. Following a successful fundraising campaign via Art Happens, which saw 271 donors raise £13,500 in just 33 days, the museum took the steamroller on an ambitious printing tour from its base at Amberley Museum and Heritage Centre in West Sussex and culminated in June at Ditchling Village Fair.
Visitors will be able to view works by celebrated artists including Anthony Burrill, Jonny Hannah, Angie Lewin and Rob Ryan; they join a long list of artists, students and community groups who spent months preparing designs using lino, wood and letterpress.
The Big Steam Print Exhibition is a free entry show of selected works from the steamroller events which are also available for sale, and will be on display from 6 – 21 August 2016 at Phoenix Brighton, 10-14 Waterloo Place, Brighton, East Sussex BN2 9NB. Opening hours are Wednesday – Sunday, 11am – 5pm.
